Consolations
This programme aims to reconnect Brahms’ masterpiece, Ein Deutsches Requiem, and the vision of a German-style requiem, with all that this implies in terms of care and fervour for the living.
German Baroque compositions such as Schütz’s Musikalisches Exequien and Bach’s Köthener Trauermusik serve as echoes of the past and mirrors of more recent compositions such as those by Brahms and Mendelssohn . All in a unique version that captures the tenderness and warmth of ancient timbres, as well as the diversity and intensity of phrasing inherited from the Baroque masters.
